Saudade

God wrote my story

I flip its fleeting pages

Everyday, every moment, not everything's brand new

Some people, some regrets, some unsaid struggles

Gravitate upon my existence; weighing on me relentless.

Aloud I confess only momentarily

The fastidious replays I can't scurry away

Shades of sorrow change like seasons

Some snap out in a blink, while some are hard to sway.

I can't change god's narratives, nor do I want to

Especially the ones beholding my very identity

But what humans are we?

If untold volitions don't play secret hide & seek

I pick up the bits and pieces everytime

To synchronize a picture perfect bond

Where laughs don't die and there's no end to love

Where the harmonica chimes and the violin drops.

But then reality slams my skull and it all starts to fade

Alas, I have to seal myself up again,

Because beneath the veil, it's all saudade…
